Atlanta United Forward Giorgos Giakoumakis Wins 2023 MLS Newcomer of the Year Award

Atlanta United FC forward Giorgos Giakoumakis has been named the 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) Newcomer of the Year, the league announced on Thursday. Giakoumakis, who joined Atlanta United from Scottish Premiership club Celtic FC in July 2023, has been a key contributor to the team's success this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 4 assists in 27 appearances.

The 28-year-old Greek international has also earned MLS Best XI honors in his first season with Atlanta United and was named to the MLS Team of the Week on multiple occasions. His impressive performances have helped Atlanta United secure a playoff berth and a chance to compete for the MLS Cup.
